Welcome to Tomorrow's American Catholic
An introduction for new and returning readers.

Welcome to Tomorrow’s American Catholic (TAC), a journal and publishing platform animated by a central question: Who is tomorrow’s American Catholic, and how is their understanding of themselves, their faith, and their church evolving in time?
If you are receiving this, you are either a recent subscriber or recipient of our previous publication, Today’s American Catholic. As we outlined in our last email newsletter, we are officially relaunching with a new name that retains our original initials and spirit, but that speaks to the horizon opening before the church in this post-synodal moment.
Reframing the mission
Whether you are familiar with our past work or here for the first time, a quick perusal of our revised “About” page should give some sense of our mission. In brief, our work is rooted in the spirituality of the Synod on Synodality, which we see as the natural extension of reforms introduced by the Second Vatican Council. We seek to contribute to the creation of a culture within the church that is marked by openness, inquiry, attentive listening, and communal discernment.
Heeding Thomas Berry’s warning that “we will go into the future as a single sacred community or we will all perish in the desert,” we place a high value on interspiritual dialogue and collaboration. We view the peripheries of the church as points of contact with others—places to practice a “ministry of presence” where we discover Christ in our receptivity. We hope to convey this spirit of contemplative hospitality in all of our work, written as well as recorded.
What to expect
As a subscriber to TAC, you will receive a weekly—sometimes every-other-weekly, depending on the demands of our publishing schedule—newsletter with a brief reflection, roundup of our latest work, and news and notes from other groups and publications that we think might be of interest. If you can’t locate the newsletter, check your Spam folder or Promotions tab and move this email to your primary inbox.
We publish two to three new pieces by a variety of contributors each week. Our published pieces take several forms, including long-form essays, straight-ahead reportage, book and film reviews, and spiritual meditations and reflections on Scripture. We are also committed to publishing poetry, as we believe it to be an essential element of any discourse around religion.
If you’ve missed an article or wish to revisit something you’ve already read, you’ll find everything stored in our searchable Archive. We are in the process of categorizing over 900 archived pieces to make them even easier to locate.
In addition to our written work, we also record a podcast called Tomorrow’s American Catholic. Episodes will debut in January 2026 and feature interviews with authors, activists, and spiritual practitioners who help us envision together new forms of Catholic culture and ways of being church.
Notes and correspondence
To allow our readers time to explore and acclimate to our new site, we have currently removed all paywalls. As Tomorrow’s American Catholic continues to evolve, we may place selected articles behind paywalls or add special offerings for paid subscribers. Our weekly newsletter, however, will always be free.
Free subscribers can upgrade their subscription at any time. If you enjoy what you find here and feel inspired to share, gift subscriptions are always available. We hope you’ll stay with us but understand if you need to unsubscribe.
Finally, we welcome correspondence from our readers, hearers, fellow seekers, co-creators, and co-facilitators. You can reach us at editor@tomorrowsamericancatholic.org with questions, comments, critiques, concerns, ideas or pitches for articles, or just to say hello.
We are grateful for everyone’s interest, prayers, and support to this point, and we look forward to embarking with you on the next stage of our journey!
Blessings,
Michael Centore
